Cycling

The Township of Alfred and Plantagenet is a perfect location for cycling. Be it long-distance along our country roads or a short bicycle ride with the family along one of the paved sections of the Prescott-Russell Recreational Trail, there are many kilometers to cover and beautiful sights along the way!

Visit the United Counties of Prescott-Russell Cycling and Walking Network or Ontario By Bike to find maps and great places to visit during your ride.

You can also visit the Wendover Bicycle Park and rent a bicycle at the Larocque Woods 

Fishing

The Township of Alfred and Plantagenet is located at the junction of the Ottawa and South Nation rivers. As such, you can practise fishing throughout the year in the region.

You may fish from the docks in Lefaivre, Treadwell or Wendover, or from the shore at the Jessup's Falls Conservation Area. In the winter, ice fishing takes place on the Ottawa River.

For permits and information, visit the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry website. Four times a year, Canadian residents can fish in Ontario without buying a fishing licence, these periods are usually in February, May, June and July.

Cross-country Skiing and Snowshoeing

The Township of Alfred and Plantagenet has invested in the creation of over 3 km of trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter, as well as walking/hiking trails in the summer. 

The trails are open to all from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and do not require a pass.
